September Meeting

This months Meeting will be at our house September 6 at 6:00. We will be plumbing a fish rack, dicussing how we can support FOTAS and the show September 26-28, last but not least, future affiliate club show support and possible future show planning. Remember, our club auctions have a 60/40 split in favor of the seller, and seller can set a minimum bid. Our default minimum bid is $5.00.

Everyone is welcome and you do not have to be a TCA member to attend. Seller split at the auction is 75% to the seller for items selling for less than $30.00 and 80% for items selling for over $30.00. Show entries are $3.00 each and must be pre-registered by 9/22/08. Contact Show Chairmen Marvin England (903) 794-3474 or Page Ullman (817) 831-7876. 20 Gallon rental tanks will be available for $15.00 each. Parking is available around the building. If you can't find any, you can ask the concierge for a parking pass to park at no cost in the nearby lots. The parking time limits aren't enforced unless they are metered parking on the street.

Those who are vehicle challenged can take the red or blue line train to Cedars Station and it's a short one block to the building.

Friday July 11th
Afternoon - room set-up, working session.
6:30 pm - Video presentations & speaker, Art Leuterman.

SHOW: Saturday July 12th
8:00 am - fish registration begins.
9:30 am - all fish must be benched, fish room open for visitors.
Free admission. This is your chance to see hundreds of beautiful Killifish.
10:00 am - judging begins.

The American Livebearer Association 2008 convention, May 1st-4th in San Antonio , Texas is rapidly approaching. Bring the whole family; you'll be amazed at all there is to see and do with so many attractions in San Antonio
The convention includes exciting speakers, a banquet, livebearer fish show, an all species auction, and two optional tours/collecting trips. Please visit our website for more information (http://ala2008.info/).

Our December meeting will be the second saturday instead of the first. Our meeting / party will be Saturday December 8 @ 6:00 pm at the Masonic Lodge in Euless, which by the way is the future site of the TAKO show in July. (more details later) We will be also having a bowl show during the party which means bring your own bowl and fish to show. The judging will be a peoples choice so only males are needed since this is just for us to have some fun and show our little guys off. There will be a white elephant gift exchange with a twist. There is a $20 limit and must be fish related, wrapped in some form or fasion so as not to let it be known what it is. We will be eating ( biggrin.gif YAY!!!!) See thread inside on who is doin what for food stuff. There will still be a club auction so feel free to bring fish and / or money tongue.gif Now for those who have no idea where this place I speak of is.........

WAKO hopes you'll be able to participate in our upcoming Egg-laying Toothcarp Jamboree! Our 27th annual Killifish show and auction will be held in Milwaukee, WI Nov. 3-4. The show site is the Ramada airport-south on 13th and College Ave. Please make hotel reservations ASAP since we have the rate of $59.00 blocked until Oct. 19th. Be sure to state that you are with the Killifish Show so that you get the discount and we get the credit for the booked room. Call directly : 414-764-5300.

Stop at our web site to see the impressive list of killies that are expected to be in our auction on Sunday. www.aka.org/wako The list is being updated as information is available. Also posted are all the Classes and other show information including registration forms. We ask you to pre-register your fish whether they are one pair or fifty, even if they are just for auction. As you may or may not have noticed, the skins (the things that make the forum look as it does) have been updated a bit. If you don't know how to change the skin, it's down at the bottom of the page, to the left, next to where you can choose language. We have a pretty good variaety and hope that we have something for everyone.

Go ahead, play with them and see if you find a favorite, and by all means...HAVE FUN!!!
